Jimmy Odukoya, son of the late founding pastor of the Fountain of Life Church Taiwo Odukoya, will be installed as the new senior pastor on Saturday, September 30.
Odukoya, the former senior pastor of the church, died on August 7 in the United States. He was aged 67.
The preacher, whose church headquarters is in the Ilupeju area of Lagos, was buried on September 9 in a private ceremony attended by family members and close associates.
On September 17, a member of the church’s board of trustees Pastor Rotimi Okpaise announced that the board had unanimously selected Jimmy to succeed his father.
Although Jimmy is known more as an actor and model, he was ordained a minister in the church in 2009 and then pastor in 2012.
Announcing the change of baton, a statement by the church posted on Instagram read, “The Fountain of Life Church has today announced Pastor Jimmy Othniel Odukoya as the new senior pastor of the church.

“In a statement by Pastor Rotimi Okpaise, a member of the board of trustees, Pastor Jimmy’s appointment followed careful deliberations by the board and other stakeholders.
“Pastor Jimmy’s installation as the senior pastor and chairman, board of trustees comes up on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00am.”
Among those expected to be at the installation are his siblings and the presiding bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Mike Okonkwo.
Okonkwo was Odukoya’s spiritual father.
Jimmy’s dreadlocks and earrings have been a subject of controversy since his appointment.
He, however, told BBC News Pidgin in an interview that the Bible supports a man wearing dreadlocks and earrings.
