Former governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode is currently top of Twitter trends in Nigeria as the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its much-awaited national convention on Saturday.
Mr Ambode had a public fallout with the leader of the APC Bola Tinubu, a strongman in Lagos politics and now presidential aspirant, in 2018 which ultimately cost him his second term.
The 58-year-old is constitutionally permitted to be in office for one more term of four years. His successor Babjide Sanwo-Olu had called on Lagosians to vote for continuity.
While Ambode has not said he would contest for the seat, his supporters have begun throwing his name around.
