Olawale Oluwo, former Lagos State commissioner for energy and mineral resources, has campaigned for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Jimi Agbaje.
Mr Oluwo assured thousands who gathered for Mr Agbaje’s rally at Marina beach, Epe, that land acquisitions in the area and Lekki-Ajah axis would be reviewed in the people’s favour if Agbaje is voted as Lagos governor.
Oluwo, in December 2018, resigned his position as a member of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s cabinet, dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a double blow.
“Agbaje and his deputy have assured me that they will continue the good work that Ambode began in Epe but has not been allowed to finish.
“All our land that they forcefully acquired, JK will review. Those that can be returned will be returned. Owners of those that cannot be retrieved will receive adequate compensation,” Oluwo said.
He also spoke about his resignation.
Oluwo said: “I resigned from the government when they began doing the nonsense they wanted to do. They say that in Nigeria it is difficult for a public official to resign, but I resigned on my own.”
Agbaje’s running mate, Haleemat Busari, also assured Epe residents that there would be no abandoned projects in the town.
She said: “When we corruptly spend today the resources that should enhance our future, what shall be left for our children? We shall not behave that way, we will project programmes with our children in mind.”
Agbaje told the crowd to vote during the governorship elections on Saturday for “freedom, not for Jimi Agbaje, but for the people of Lagos State.”
