Daniel AlabrahThe Head of Media and Communication of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Mr. Daniel Alabrah, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.

In his resignation letter dated September 8, 2015 and addressed to the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta/Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd), Mr. Alabrah cited “irreconcilable differences” as well as “inexplicable antagonism and attack on his dignity and self-esteem” among other reasons for quitting.

He explained that following recent developments in the office, the work environment was no longer conducive for the performance of his duties.

A source at the Amnesty Officer informed qed.ng that Alabrah’s contract, as well as that of some other consultants, expired on Monday, August 31.

They were however told to continue at their duty post.

“Things took a different turn when an order came from the Chief of Staff, Col Dedis Abel (rtd) that they should drop their official cars,” the source said.

Alabrah’s request for an explanation did not go down well with some powerful people in the agency.

He was initially prevented from entering his office on Monday, September 7.

At the moment, consultants in the Amnesty Office are said to be owed four months’ salary arrears, a situation that has brought severe hardship on the staff.

Alabrah, a senior journalist, was a Deputy Editor in The Sun Publishing Limited before his appointment on June 4, 2012.

He was at a time News Editor with Independent Newspapers Limited.

See text of his resignation letter addressed to Boroh below:

Following recent developments in the office and due to irreconcilable differences with the Chief of Staff, I have reached the unmistaken conclusion that the work environment is no longer conducive for the performance of my duties.

  1. In the last three years and three months, I have through this office and the Presidential Amnesty Programme been offered the privilege and opportunity to render service to our dear country.
  2. During this period, I believe that my commitment to duty and the sacrifices made helped to form the progressive outlook that the programme now enjoys.
  3. Regrettably, the initial positive indications of acceptance of my presence in your new team have waned, resulting in yet inexplicable antagonism towards me and accentuated by an attack on my dignity and self-esteem.
  4. It is for these and other reasons that I wish to resign with effect from today, Tuesday September 8, 2015.
  5. I thank the Almighty God for the opportunity just as I assure you of my highest regards at all times.
  6. I wish you well sir.
