Seven members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have decamped from the Allied People’s Movement (APM) to All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaker Olakunle Oluomo read their letters stating change of party during plenary in Abeokuta on Thursday.
The defecting lawmakers are Yusuf Amosun (Ewekoro constituency) a nephew of former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun; Minority Leader Ganiyu Oyedeji (Ifo 11), Musefiu Lamidi (Ado Odo Ota 11); Sikiratu Ajibola (Ipokia), Bolanle Ajayi (Yewa South), Adeniran Ademola (Sagamu 11) and Modupe Mujota-Onikepo (Abeokuta North).
The lawmakers said in their letters that they decided to join the APC after due consultations with their leaders and supporters.
In his response, the speaker congratulated them for joining the ruling party, saying it was important to come together to provide improved service to the state.
