Ex-Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke, has been appointed head coach of Tanzania national team.
Amuneke returns to management after a brief spell in charge of the Sudanese club, Al Khartoum SC.
The Nigerian will now be in charge of the Taifa Stars and will attempt to get their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track.
The 47-year-old signed a two-year deal to take over from Salum Mayanga, who was shown the way out for poor results.
His first priority will be to get the Taifa Stars’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track.
Amuneke’splaying career was abruptly cut short due to injury, appearing just 27 times for Nigeria.
The ex-Barcelona winger is fondly remembered for his brilliant performances at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup in 1994 as well as the Olympics two years after.
Amuneke’s first managerial stint was assistant at Saudi Arabian side Al Hazm.
This was followed by successful spells with Julius Berger, Ocean Boys and the Golden Eaglets.
