FIFA U-17 World Cup winning coach, Emmanuel Amunike, has stated he is no longer “interested in continuing” with the team.
Amuneke, a former international, succeeded Manu Garba in 2013 after serving as assistant to the tactician who won the cadet world cup same year.
The former Barcelona attacker guided the Golden Eaglets to a record fifth FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile and looked set to continue in same position.
Though no formal resignation has been made, Amunike revealed he is walking away from his current role with the team because he wants a “new challenge”.
“To be honest I am not interested in continuing with the under-17s,” Amunike told local radio station, Nigeria Info FM.
“I have been in this category for years we have to be honest with ourselves.
“One has to move forward and I am looking forward to the next challenge.
“We will see what the future brings.”
