Singer, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has revealed that he and his wife, Adesua Etomi, have been in self-isolation since reports emerged that a person with symptoms of the ravaging coronavirus had attended the 2020 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The 38-year-old made this known on Twitter on Tuesday after reports were confirmed by the Lagos State Government.
“Mrs W and were already self-isolating since last week..and here’s the thing… Everyone else who attended the AMVCAs should already have been doing the same. This threat is real. Don’t wait until you know an infected person before you take it seriously. Please,” he wrote.
Adesuwa, 32, confirmed her husband’s statement.
The The Wedding Party actress tweeted, “To all of us who attended the AMVCA – please let’s stay indoors. I’m begging you. Let’s be responsible. Edakun. Bubba and I have been indoors for a few days now…”
Last Thursday, a documentary producer, Ifeoma Chukwuogo, alleged that a celebrity with symptoms of coronavirus had attended the AMVCAs which was held on March 14.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Government on Tuesday and it urged everyone who attended the ceremony to self-isolate for at least 14 days.
