The Nigerian Army denied a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh, access to the Ihiala Local Government headquarters on Tuesday.
Umeh, who is the party’s state agent for the governorship election, arrived at the headquarters at about 10:30 am accompanied by other party members for the supplementary election but were turned back.
An army officer ordered Umeh, who represents Anambra Central Senatorial District, and others with him to leave the headquarters since he was a party agent and not a local government agent, reports The Cable.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the election inconclusive because polls were not held in Ihiala.
As of Sunday, APGA’s Chukwuma Soludo led the poll with 103,946 votes.
