Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo, has paid tribute to Afro-Jazz legend, Manu Dibango, who died from coronavirus on Tuesday.
The 59-year-old posted the tribute on Instagram on Tuesday.
She wrote, “…Dear Manu, you’ve always been there for me from my beginnings in Paris to this rehearsal just two months ago. You are the original giant of African music and a beautiful human being. This coda of #SoulMakossa is for you!”
The late 86-year-old was supposed to perform with Kidjo at the Carnegie Hall in New York City in the United States of America on March 14 but pulled out because, according to Kidjo, “he’s too old to be travelling like that.”
The show was later cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak.
Manu Dibango died on Tuesday in a hospital in Paris, France after contracting coronavirus.
