A Nigerian soldier, Charles Victor Uchenna Ilo, from Enugu State was killed by Boko Haram terrorists during a recent battle to recapture Monguno in Borno State.
A gallant combatant, Ilo combined patriotism with deep faith in God. He prayed before each operation (see below) and was known to be very friendly.
He tool ill recently but returned to the battle front after treatment.
His last Facebook post was on Valentine Day and it reads: “well, nothing more 2say,we are going back 2 recapture our #monguno base 2day, i must fullfill my vow 4my country…my faith is one and ever! THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.”
Hundreds have paid tribute to him via that social media platform.
