Arsenal Football Kid Academy in London, United Kingdom have welcomed a new player from Nigeria Munir Sada.
The nine-year-old wonder kid caught the attention of sports lovers on social media after pictures of him signing a deal and flanked by the club officials went viral.
Sada reportedly signed with the club in the company of his mother and another relative.
An information officer at Kaduna State Department of Public Affairs Yunus Abdallah in a Facebook post said Sada is an indigene of Zaria, Kaduna State.
“Arsenal FC have signed a nine-year-old Nigerian. Munnir Muhammed Sada an indigene of Zaria Local Government of Kaduna State is expected to be playing for the youth soccer team of Arsenal FC,” he posted.
Nwankwo Kanu remains the most successful Nigerian to wear the Arsenal shirt. He played for the English side under Arsene Wenger from 1999-2004. He was also a member of the “Invincibles,” the Arsenal side that finished the 2003–04 season of the English Premier League undefeated.
It remains to be seen if Sada, who reportedly has Lionel Messi as his football idol, will become an Arsenal legend.
Arsenal are yet to release an official statement on the Nigerian’s resumption to its academy.
