Lagos State Government has confirmed another death from the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, announced the death via a tweet on Saturday.
Abayomi said the patient died in a private hospital in the state.
“We are however saddened by the death of another patient from #COVID19 related complications in a private hospital in Lagos,” he wrote, urging residents to continue obeying social distancing rules.
The commissioner did not reveal further information about the victim.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had on Friday night confirmed 17 new cases of coronavirus in the country, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections recorded so far to 305.
Of the 17 cases, eight are in Lagos, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 166.
