A student of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos has been shot dead, the management said in a circular dated November 30.
The student, whose identity is yet to be confirmed as of press time, was killed on Tuesday during the student week.
YABATECH management announced the immediate suspension of the student week over the incident.
“Following the ugly incidents of gun shot in the college by unruly personalities earlier today, which resulted in the death of a student, the college management has directed the ongoing student week activities be suspended IMMEDIATELY,” the circular read.
The incident is the latest in a handful of tragedies that have struck the school in the past months.
In September, a final-year student Bello Adisa was killed.
In August, a student identified as Kunle, governor of HND 1 of the Department of Quantity Survey, was shot and killed at the school’s sports complex while watching a football match.
