British-Nigerian Anthony Joshua is the new British Heavyweight champion following his seventh round knockout victory over Dillian Whyte on Saturday night at the 02 Arena, London.
Joshua, 26, who started his boxing career in 2007, was born in Watford to a Nigerian mother and British father of Nigerian descent.
The 2012 London Olympic gold medallist came into the encounter boasting 14 straight knockouts in the first three rounds.
But Whyte, who is a year older, stood up to some huge blows and, perhaps more importantly, managed to land a few of his own
However, Whyte was wobbled by a hook to the temple before Joshua finished the job with a savage uppercut.
With Whyte unconscious and unaware of his surroundings, referee Howard Foster called a halt to proceedings.
Next up for the former amateur world champion is former world title challenger, Dereck Chisora, who knocked out Croatian journeyman Jakov Gospic on the same bill.
The fight the world would like to see is Joshua versus Tyson Fury, another Briton, who won the WBA, IBF and WBO titles from Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf a fortnight ago.
