British boxer of Nigerian descent, Anthony Joshua, knocked out Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round of a heavyweight world title bout on Saturday at Wembley Stadium in England.
Early in the fifth round, Joshua knocked down Klitschko but the Ukrainian replied in the sixth with stunning fightback that left Joshua on the floor.
However, in the 11th round, 27-year-old Londoner climbed off the canvas to wedge in surprising punches that floored 41-year-old Klitschko and made the referee, David Fields, signal the end of the fight.
With the victory before the 90,000 fans present at the stadium, Joshua, who maintains his unbeaten race now has a record of 19 wins in all of his heavyweight encounters, has successfully defended his IBF title, while also claiming the WBA ‘super’ belt.
