Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, has wished his fans well amid the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world.
The boxing champion shared a video on Tuesday on social media where he urged his supporters to abide by guidelines provided by health officials, saying “we are in this together.”
“This is just a message from me and my family to say ‘I hope you are well’, just checking in,” he said.
“To the toddlers, to the teenagers, to the young adults, to the adults, I know we want to be doing what we are doing and what we do best but we are all in this together.”
The 30-year-old said Monday would have been the first day of his training in preparation for a fight but “I follow guidelines to make sure that we get through ‘cos we are in this together.”
Joshua was scheduled to fight Bulgarian, Kubrat Pulev, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20.
Pulev, 38, is the mandatory IBF challenger to take on Joshua, holder of WBA, IBF and WBO titles.
Joshua, in the video, described the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom as the ‘real heroes’ in the fight against the deadly virus.
“To the ones that have lost loved ones, to the ones suffering, you’ve got my love and support and especially to the ones we take for granted – the NHS – you’re the real heroes,” he said.
The boxer was recently in self-isolation after meeting Prince Charles, who tested positive for the coronavirus, at a Commonwealth event.
Prince Charles has since recovered from the disease.
