Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua, has visited Nigeria one month after his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in New York.
His sister, Janet Joshua, shared a video from his arrival in the country on Instagram on Thursday.
“Welcome home my dear brother 🇳🇬❤️ May the Lord almighty uphold you. Strengthen you and be with you. Back to the mother land. The soil of our foundation #JoshuaGeneration Doing the work of God 🙏🏿🙏🏿🏆🏆🏆🇳🇬,” she wrote.
She also shared a picture with her brother, writing, “Your Boy and God your son is just fine. ❤️🙏🏿 Thank you Nigeria – the only words I can use to describe our welcome is.
“Immersed with Love, peace from the heavens, Joy, unlimited joy and abundance, rains and showers of blessings. We are truly grateful ❤️❤️✨✨🙏🏿🙏🏿🇳🇬🇳🇬.”
Earlier in the week, Janet had shared a video of Anthony trying and failing to recite the Nigerian national anthem.
In June, Anthony Joshua suggested that he might be sparing himself of Nigerian dish, pounded yam, as he prepares for a rematch with Andy Ruiz.
Joshua lost his World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organization titles to Ruiz Jr on June 1.
A rematch has been slated for November or December.
