Mr. Habeeb Bello, a member of the APC National Campaign Council in Ondo State has advised Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to prioritise youth empowerment in the state.

Bello advised in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

He said that empowerment was necessary to restore the confidence of youths in governance, encourage rapid development and discourage them from criminal activities.

Bello said that investment in youths in the state would discourage them from violence and the prevailing challenges of the quick rich syndrome.

He called on the governor to also focus on creating an enabling environment for the young population in the state to thrive academically and entrepreneurially.

“Specifically, we want the governor to prioritise youth empowerment in the areas of agriculture, sports and education,” the APC chieftain said.

He urged the governor to evolve plans for youths of the state who had distinguished themselves in their chosen endeavors.

Bello called on the governor to initiate programmes to attract investments, adding that the current level of investment in the state would not address the current unemployment situation.

“Ondo state is a pure civil service state and the economy is being driven by civil servants.

“There must be deliberate action to attract investment because, without civil servants, the state is close to nothing and a state cannot develop without private investments.

“So, there must be a programme in place to attract a lot of industries that can employ youth so that, with or without civil servants, the state can maintain economic stability,” he said.
