A Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, Imo State capital on Tuesday upheld the withdrawal of the bachelor’s degree certificate of Senate Chief Whip Orji Kalu by Abia State University (ABSU).
A High Court in Isikwuato, Abia State had restored the certificate of the former governor of Abia.
However, Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie nullified the judgement of the High Court in Isikwuato on the grounds that it lacked jurisdiction over the matter.
Abia State University had in 2018 withdrawn Kalu’s certificate over allegations of fraud and breach of admission regulations concerning his graduation.
But the former governor later approached the High Court, challenging the allegations and the subsequent withdrawal of his degree by the university.
