The Nigerian Army will on Wednesday, March 27 bury 17 officers and soldiers killed in Okuama community in Delta State.
The slain soldiers will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja, the army announced on Tuesday in a post on X.
President Bola Tinubu, who earlier said the soldiers will be given posthumous honour, is billed to be the special guest at the event.
The military personnel attached to the 181 Amphibious Battalion were reportedly responding to a distress call when they were ambushed and killed.
After the killing, there were reports that the military launched reprisal attacks in Bomadi and Okuoma communities. But the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) dismissed the allegations.
Tinubu said the DHQ had been given “full authority” to find the killers.
