Chairman of the International Sports Academy, Segun Odegbami, has lavished praise on alumnus Tolu Arokodare following his recent call-up to the Super Eagles squad.

Odegbami, a former Green Eagles captain and 1980 African Nations Cup winner, spoke during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), highlighting Arokodare’s talent and potential.

Arokodare, 24, trained at the International Sports Academy, Wasinmi, Ogun State, before making waves in European football with Belgian top-flight club, Genk FC. His performance in the 2024/2025 season saw him score 17 goals and provide five assists in 30 matches, earning him an invitation to the national team by coach Eric Chelle.

He marked his Super Eagles debut in Kigali, Rwanda, during a 2-0 victory over the hosts in a 2026 World Cup qualifier, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute.

Odegbami lauded Arokodare’s development, attributing it to his strong foundation at the academy and natural ability. “Arokodare, one of our students, was impressive during his time here. We have many players like him because we maintain high-quality standards,” the 72-year-old said.

Reflecting on Arokodare’s future, Odegbami tipped the forward for greater success with the national team. “Tolu is a top scorer, with even greater individual skill than Osimhen. He can do more with the ball and will be a standout performer,” he remarked.

The football legend emphasised that Arokodare’s inclusion in the national team reflects the quality of players nurtured at the International Sports Academy and expressed confidence that more graduates would follow in his footsteps.
