English giants, Arsenal, are edging closer towards a double swoop for two Nigerian youngsters, Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze.
Arsene Wenger’s side are favourites to land the pair – fending off competition from top European sides, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
The Daily Mirror reports on Wednesday that the Gunners have agreed a combined fee of £3million deal to sign Nwakali, 17, and Chukwueze, 16, from the Diamond Football Academy in Umuahia, Nigeria.
Both players starred for the Golden Eaglets en route to winning a record fifth FIFA U-17 World Cup title last November in Chile.
Nwakali, an energetic and charismatic midfielder was captain of the side. He scored three goals in the competition which earned him the overall best player award.
The player has always stated his intention to play at the Emirates because of their football philosophy.
“I would love to play for Arsenal,” Nwakali said last year after the cadet world cup.
“They are Premier League club; I will like to play for them because they play the best football in the world.”
Chukwueze on the other hand, dazzled from the wings, scoring thrice and setting up another three for his colleagues at the tourney.
