Nigerian international singer Asa was the star performer at the maiden edition of the Spice TV Lifestyle Honours held in Lagos on Wednesday, December 5.
The night also witnessed performances from Bez, Adekunle Gold, Vector, Teni the Entertainer and Falana.
Opening her set with the single ‘Fire on the Mountain’ from her self-titled debut album, the audience warmed up to Asa as models donning pieces from the designer, Torlowei walked the runway.
Eighteen months after her last performance in Nigeria, Asa gave her audience something to make up for the delay in starting the show.
Eliciting gasps from the audience as she removed her jacket to reveal a sexy sequined black top worn over pants, she launched into a medley, performing most of her hit tracks including ‘Jailer’, ‘Bibanke’, ‘The Way I Feel’ and ‘Moving On’.
At one point, she kicked off her shoes after regaling the audience with tales how she made a similar display at a concert in Paris where someone in the audience took one of the shoes home. To forestall a repeat, she asked her team members to keep her shoes safe.
Powered by XCHANGE, a consortium of event promoters led by Tajudeen Adepetu, the event attracted fashionistas across the continent to the Eko Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Hosted by Ghanaian TV presenter and producer Joselyn Dumas, the awards saw the likes of GTB, carting away the prize for financial services brand of the year, OC Ukeje winning the male lead in a movie of the year, Dangote Foundation winning the CSR brand of the year, while the award for the fashion brand stylist of the year went to Dimeji Alara (SA), and innovator of the year went to Art X Lagos.
