Musician, Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, has blamed the Nigeria Police Force for the killing of Tina Ezekewe, a 16-year-old girl who was shot by a policeman in Lagos on Thursday.
The 35-year-old expressed her opinion when she paid tribute to the victim on Instagram on Monnday.
“Tina was killed by the police,” she declared.
The Jailer singer also expressed disbelief at the rape and murder of Uwaila Omozuwa, a student of the University of Benin who was raped and murdered in a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
“Uwa was raped and murdered while studying in a church,” she wrote.
Tina was reportedly hit by a stray bullet from the policeman who was trying to arrest a commercial bus driver for breaking the curfew imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Two policemen identified as Theophilus Otobo, an assistant superintendent of police and Oguntoba Olamigoke, a police inspector attached to Bariga Police Station, have been arrested in connection with Ezekwe’s death.
While the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has called for an immediate investigation into the rape and murder of Uwaila, who was raped and killed while studying in the church.
“I have ordered the Nigeria Police Force (@PoliceNG ) to thoroughly investigate the circumstances that led to the death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100-level student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN),” he tweeted on Sunday.
“The @PoliceNG has been mandated to identify, arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable in her death. The Violence Against Persons (VAP) Law is in effect in our state.
“Using this law, we would ensure to investigate what exactly transpired and deal decisively with the those found complicit in the dastardly act, whoever they might be,” he added.
