Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has come to the defence of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi following attacks against him from social media influencers Tunde Ednut and VeryDarkMan.
Since the Super Eagles were defeated at the finals of the 2023 AFCON by host Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday night, Iwobi has been singled out for criticism. Some fans particularly questioned coach Jose Peseiro’s insistence on starting Iwobi against the Elephants.
The Fulham midfielder featured for 79 minutes as the Eagles failed to add to their three AFCON titles.
Iwobi was replaced by Alhassan Yusuf for the last few minutes of the game.
The attacks have forced the 27-year-old to stay away from social media for some time.
Reacting to a post on Instagram Story where Tunde Ednut rejoiced after Iwobi was substituted for Yusuf, Oshoala wrote on Tuesday: “Tunde is an as*hole! Boys give am money to do giveaway, he dey form god. Old fo*l..who d f*ck do you think you are? Ode buruku…”

In another post, she claimed that Tunde Ednut bodyshames women.
“I’m a victim of cyber bully and I fu*kin know how that sh*t feels especially wen you’re being singled out…like yooo the whole team lost,” she added.
Oshoala, who recently joined Bay FC in the United States from FC Barcelona Femeni in Spain, shared a video on Instagram Story of VeryDarkMan criticising Iwobi.
Upset with the influencer’s comments, the 29-year-old asked him what he does for a living and claimed he chatted her up to apologise for his statements.
“This boy has always been a fo*l. Very dark idi*t,” she wrote.
