Some Nigerians on Thursday recalled a 2019 tweet by the social media aide to the president Bashir Ahmad about education being the focus of the Buhari administration in its second term.
“Bookmark this tweet. This second tenure of President @MBuhari is going to be education, education and education. Schools will be upgraded. Our basic education system will be improved. Education will be priority. Number of out-of-school will be drastically reduced,” Mr Ahmad tweeted in June 2019 after Buhari was re-elected in February and sworn-in in May.
The critics say the tweet falls short of the plan by the government to focus on education following the closure of federal varsities over the seven-month-old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
