Former presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated the new Senate minority leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe.
After a meeting of PDP leaders and PDP senators on Thursday, Senator Abaribe, representing Abia South, was named the minority leader of the ninth Senate.
Abaribe was the senator who stood as surety for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, during his trial.
Emmanuel Bwacha from Taraba South retained his position as deputy minority leader.
Senator Phillip Aduda of the Federal Capital Territory also retained his position as the minority whip.
Atiku in a tweet on Friday congratulated the new leaders for the party’s senators.
“Congratulations to Distinguished Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe (Minority Leader), Emmanuel Bwacha (Dep. Minority Leader), Philip Adudua (Minority Whip) & Clifford Ordia (Dep. Minority Whip) of the 9th @NGRSenate,” Atiku said.
