Former presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has charged the Super Eagles to focus against Burundi.
Nigeria go head to head with Burundi in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening game day on Saturday.
It will be the first time the two countries meet in a major tournament.
In a tweet on Saturday, Atiku urged the players to stay focused and united.
“As you begin your #TotalAFCON2019 quest with today’s match against Burundi, millions of Nigerians and I are behind you. I urge you to stay focused and united. Make us proud,” he wrote.
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, wished the Super Eagles a successful tournament. He urged them to remain a beacon of unity for the country.
“Also, as @NGSuperEagles take on Swallows of Burundi today, I wish all the players and coaching staff a successful tournament.
“The Super Eagles remain a beacon for Nigerian unity and continue to show us what we can achieve as a nation when we all work together for a common goal,” Saraki said.
He also wished the Super Falcons victory against Germany in the last 16 of FIFA Women’s World Cup.
