Abdullahi Nyako, private secretary of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has died.
Nyako, a longtime associate of the former Vice President, died in the early hours of Thursday.
Atiku, in a statement by his media aide Paul Ibe, said Nyako was loyal in service.
“Abdullahi was more than an aide, he was a family to me in every sense of the word. He served me with loyalty and diligence. He will be sorely missed.
“On behalf of my family, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to the Nyako family and pray that the Almighty Allah will comfort and strengthen them. May Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen,” Atiku said.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce said in a message posted to Instagram that he was shocked at the news of Nyako’s death.
He said, “I am extremely saddened by this news. Mallam Abdullahi Nyako was my friend and brother! I’m broken by the news and, most importantly, the shock. I will miss you, my friend. I will miss the jokes. I will miss the laughter.
“My prayers are with H.E @aatiku, your loved ones and the friends like myself that you left behind. May your gentle soul Rest In Peace.”
