Former Delta State Governor and 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, has officially dumped the party and moved on to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okowa, who was the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election, made the announcement in a video shared online on Wednesday.
In the clip, the former governor addressed his constituents in his native language, saying:
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction.
We will take the best direction, the best path for our people.”
His defection comes just as the current Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori also announced his move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oborevwori’s defection was made public after a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba.
His Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, confirmed the development to journalists.
