Founder of Chocolate City Entertainment, Audu Maikori, on Sunday expressed gratitude for all the Nigerians who spoke with one voice to condemn his arrest on Friday.
The 41-year-old was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja over what the police described as “inciting” comments he made about the crisis in Southern Kaduna.
His unverified claim that five students of the College of Education, Gidan Waya in Kaduna were killed by Fulani herdsmen was widely reported in the media, causing many to accuse the government of inaction over the bloodletting.
Maikori later retracted his claim and apologised publicly after the school denied that any of its student was killed.
His arrest, therefore, came as a surprise to his supporters and several others who condemned the government.
A campaign to secure his release was launched using #FreeAudu and other hashtags.
One day after his release, the lawyer turned showbiz impresario released a series of tweets about his agitations for Southern Kaduna and the manner Nigerians spoke up.
1.Yesterday I was released on bail due to the immense support & voice of all the great people in Nigeria. I do not take your support lightly

There are reports that the police plan to arraign him in court after investigation.
