Ijoba Lande, skit maker and on-screen ‘husband’ of Aunty Ramota, has addressed the swirling rumour about the small-statured actress known for her comedic roles.
The buzz on social media suggested that Aunty Ramota was in a coma following an alleged failed Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.
The speculation began after blogger Tosin Silverdam posted a video on Instagram showing Aunty Ramota in a hospital bed in Ikorodu, wearing an oxygen mask. The post was captioned, “Alleged video of Aunty Ramota in Coma in a hospital in Ikorodu, according to the guy in the video Dare who is the manager, whom I spoke to claims she did the bbl after he tried to convince her not to do it, that she was adamant and stubborn. I just hope this is not a skit or something, the guy sounded serious on phone. Claiming they are threatening him if anything happens to Aunty Ramota.”
The post quickly went viral, igniting a flurry of reactions.
While some netizens questioned the authenticity of the news, others expressed concern for Aunty Ramota’s well-being.
Amid the confusion, fans and followers of the actress turned to Ijoba Lande for clarification.
Initially, Ijoba Lande posted a video on TikTok denying any knowledge of the incident, and asserting that he had been trying unsuccessfully to contact Aunty Ramota’s close associates. He emphasised that he had no involvement in the purported surgery and subsequent events.
To further dispel the rumour, Ijoba Lande released another video on Instagram on Monday, June 10, stating that the news about Aunty Ramota undergoing BBL surgery and falling into a coma is false.
“Pls all the trending video that’s going on online isn’t real. It’s a stage but I’m not aware of it,” he said.
The skit maker expressed his frustration at being dragged into the situation, reiterating that he was just as much in the dark as everyone else.
Aunty Ramota had previously mentioned her interest in getting a BBL during a February appearance on the Isa Amira Show.
