Super Falcons head coach, Thomas Dennerby, has praised his outfit’s defensive masterclass in their semi-final win over Cameroon on Tuesday in the ongoing Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
The holders beat Cameroon, who were widely considered overwhelming favourites for the tournament 4-2 on penalties to reach the final and have also qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.
Nigeria were on the backfoot for most of the game played but the Super Falcons did a great job in minimizing the attacking threat of Cameroon.
Coach Dennerby has attributed his team’s progression to the finals of the Women’s championship to the side’s great work in defence.
“We defended very well against a good team and this is probably the reason why we went through today,” he said.
The defending champions will face South Africa in the finals of this year’s tournament in an attempt to win their ninth African title at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
