Comedian and filmmaker, Ayo (AY) Makun, has given goalkeeping advice to Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi.
Riyad Mahrez curled in a free kick in stoppage time to give Algeria a 2-1 win over Nigeria in their AFCON semi-final match on Sunday.
Akpeyi’s positioning for the kick was roundly criticised on social media.
AY, 47, discussed this in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
“Take a good look at all 3 goalkeepers in the picture…. Moral: In life learn not to hide your talent behind walls or people. You must ALWAYS have a clear vision in the face of any given opportunity. Because when you hide a Mahrez will expose you,” he wrote.
The Algerians went ahead when William Troost Ekong turned a Mahrez cross into his own net five minutes before halftime.
Nigeria equalised midway through the second half with a penalty awarded for handball and converted by Odion Ighalo following a lengthy VAR review.
Algeria will face Senegal in Friday’s final while Nigeria play Tunisia in the third-place match on Wednesday.
