Comedian-actor Ayodeji Makun popularly known as AY has recounted his first encounter with veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, AY said he ran into RMD in Warri and revealed his interest in being in the movie industry to the actor. He was encouraged by RMD who told him to further his education as he was bartending at the time.
According to the comedian, their relationship grew stronger after RMD commended him for his performance at one of his campus shows. The duo later went to feature together in some of AY’s comedy films.
“About 28 years ago I ran into a great man at Palm Groove Motel in Warri, and I told him how I would love to be an actor someday just like him. He encouraged me but insisted that I get some more education, aside my job as a bartender at NNPC Junior staff club in the city of my birth.
“I eventually got admitted into Delta state university and had the privilege of inviting him much later to one of my shows on campus. The relationship found a better bearing based on how I was able to deliver a good show at the time,” he wrote in parts.
Speaking further, the 50-year-old announced that his Christmas movie which also features RMD will be released in December 2021.
