Singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, has demanded justice for Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, who was tragically murdered.
The singer took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to advocate for better treatment of women in society and to call for justice for Christiana.
“Stop killing us! Stop raping us! Women deserve better #JusticeForChristianah,” Ayra Starr posted, amplifying the plea for action.
According to reports, Christiana Idowu was kidnapped along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in August.
Her abductors used her personal WhatsApp account to contact her parents. She was reported missing on August 19, 2024.
The kidnappers utilised the “view once” feature on WhatsApp to send images of Christiana in captivity, demanding a ransom of N1.5 million for her release.
Despite managing to raise N350,000, which was sent to a betting account as instructed by the kidnappers, her family faced further torment.
After receiving the money, the abductors requested a copy of the sender’s bank statement.
Christianah’s family complied on August 23, but all communication was cut off afterward.
Further investigation revealed that part of the ransom had been deposited into Christiana’s GTB account and subsequently transferred to a Wema Bank account linked to Adeleye Ayomide, a 200-level student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
Ayomide, the primary suspect, was arrested on September 3, 2024. During interrogation, he confessed to killing Christiana and burying her in his family home.
As the investigation unfolds, Ayra Starr and others continue to push for justice for Christiana, with demands for greater accountability and protection for women in Nigeria.
