The family of the slain former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, has said he never bore any grudges against the government which was prosecuting him before he was killed.

A representative of the family, Julie Faruku, said this on Sunday at a Service of Songs  in honour of Mr Badeh, who was shot dead on December 18, 2018 in Nasarawa State, The Punch reports.

Mrs Faruku described Badeh as an easygoing and selfless man.

She said it was possible that the deceased had a premonition of his death.

“One thing I want to say is that even when he was going through his trial, he was so peaceful about it. He came to our house very often and he never made any negative remark about what he was going through or whatever it was.

“I can tell you as an insider that he was very calm. Perhaps, we could say that he knew he was going to die and I can testify that he was not bitter towards anybody because if there was an element of bitterness, we would have known.

“He would come, watch television, and play games on his phone. Even when you tried to make him say something, he would be playing  games on his phone. He would never ever say a word. I want to thank God that he lived a good life.

“The testimony is that he is with the Lord. We want to thank God for a life well spent. He reached the peak of his career to the glory of God and he has left his mark. Whether we say it or not, history will vindicate him,” she said.
