Musician turned politician Banky W has broken the silence on his loss at the poll on February 25.
Born Bankole Wellington, the politician contested for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but lost to the Labour Party’s, Thaddeus Attah, following the popularity of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Speaking on his loss at The Waterbrook Church, Banky W said his faith in God remains strong in spite of his defeat at the poll.
He shared a video of his speech on Monday via Instagram.
He said, “This was to be our Thanksgiving service. After the election is over and we come and we are celebrating, thanking God. And I was going to give a short charge to say see what the Lord has done.
“And then we use that to build up your faith and give God some praise. Then we finish the service and I go to Abuja to start looking for apartment and office space.
“And God said ‘Is it only faith when you win?’ The truth is your faith in God does not stop you from hurting but it helps you heal and deal.
“Your faith in God is not just when everything is rosy and it is a walk in the park. The message of Christianity is not that when you accept God into your life he helps you avoid trouble, stress and dysfunction. But your faith in God helps you transform it, process it and overcome it.”
Banky W, who spoke on the topic ‘Faith after a Fall’, added that he was still thankful to God and the last has not been seen of him.
The 41-year-old had contested the seat in 2019 on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP). Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressive Congress (APC) won the election.
