R&B musician, Banky W, has announced the restructuring of his Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) from a record label to a full-fledged media agency.
Instead of just managing musicians, the outfit which the 36-year-old said he started with his bosom friend, Tunde Demuren, in 2001/2002, “in my dorm room at my University in NY”, has been expanded to include creative marketing, advertising, PR, brand events/activations and a talent management firm.
In a two-part post on Instagram, Banky announced that the record label arm of the business – started in 2008 – was quietly closed in January 2009.
“We’ve played our little part in helping discover/boost the careers of a number of talents in the music business (some of your favourite Artists, Producers & Engineers..) and we are forever grateful for the opportunity to live out our dreams by giving others a platform to shine as well,” he wrote.
Among those nurtured by EME are Wizkid, Shaydee and Niyola.
“We still work with musicians,” he added, “but we also work with OAPs, actors and are evaluating sports management as well.”
Among the celebrity clients on the company’s profile her Ebuka Obi-Uchendu; Banky’s wife, Adesua Etomi; Demuren’s wife, Tolu “Toolz” Oniru-Demuren; DJ Xclusive, and Banky W himself.
