Musician turned politician, Banky W, and four others contesting the House of Representatives election to represent Eti-Osa in Lagos will participate in a live debate on Monday, February 4.
The debate is organised by Media Room Hub, an online media platform, in conjunction with BBC and Pulse Nigeria.
Venue is the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island.
The five candidates expected at the debate are Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP), Ibrahim Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Omotesho Bakare of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ferdinand Adimefe of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) and Tessy Owolabi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP
Speaking on the debate, CEO of MediaRoomHub, Azuka Ogujiuba, said the time has come for Nigerians to prioritise political positions that can make positive changes happen faster instead of focusing on the executive positions only.
“Legislature is the closest government to the people. It is amazing how we have not given enough attention to it. They make laws that affect every arm of government and their existence cost government a lot of money.
“I strongly believe we need to start asking them questions before they get into the house the way we ask the executive arm of government,” she said.
