Entertainer and youth advocate, Banky W, has declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives election in February 2019 on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP).
Born Oluwabankole Wellington, the singer and actor is contesting to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State at the National Assembly.
The 37-year-old made the declaration at an event organised by the MDP tagged “Play Your Part” in Lagos on Saturday.
Founded in 2017 by a consortium of youth associations, MDP was given its certificate of registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in January 2018.
The party is led by Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi, a 27-year-old youth activist and entrepreneur who is married to musician, Mo’Cheddah.
