Singer-turned-politician Olubankole Wellington better known as Banky W has expressed his gratitude to his wife actress Adesua Etomi for standing by him in his pursuit of the House of Representatives ticket.
Banky W has emerged winner of the PDP House of Representatives rerun primary for Eti-Osa constituency of Lagos State.
Banky W won the primaries for the constituency held on May 22 across the state that was cancelled by the party.
The musician and actor won the election on Monday, June 6y with a landslide vote of 24 out of 29.
Celebrating his victory in an Instagram post, Banky thanked the party members, family, friends, donors and volunteers for their support, the singer also thanked Adesua for holding his hands and standing by his side.
He said in parts: “I want to thank my family and friends, donors and volunteers, prayer warriors and well-wishers – words fail to describe how grateful I feel that you consider me worthy of your blessing, belief and support.
“I also want to thank the love of my life, my wife, for holding my hand and standing by my side.
“Most importantly, I want to thank the almighty God – for the gift of life, and purpose. I am nothing without His Grace.”
“Our journey is far from over, this was a great step one but our work has just begun. The road ahead is long – I hope we recognize that this is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
“The terrain will be tough – I hope we realize that we are stronger together, and there is no obstacle or opposition that we cannot overcome. I hope we remember that this is not about me – this is about all of us.”
Banky W first announced his decision to run for the House of Representatives back in November 2018. In the 2019 elections, he contested the House of Representatives seat under the Modern Democratic Party (MDP) but lost to Ibrahim Obanikoro of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In April 2022, he announced that he would be running for the seat again on the PDP platform.
