Spanish giants, Barcelona, has reportedly joined Liverpool in the quest of luring Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, to Camp Nou.
Ndidi, 21, by statistics is the best ball-winning midfielder currently in Europe and has been linked with a move away from the former Premier League champions after a series of stellar performances this season.
He had a difficult job to emulate the success enjoyed by N’Golo Kante, who left the club for Chelsea six months before the Nigeria international joined and went on to win the Premier League for the second season in succession.
The ex-Genk star has featured in all its league games so far this season, winning the most tackles than any other player in Europe’s top five divisions.
After 30 matches, Ndidi has amassed 126 tackles in the league, averaging 4.2 per game.
Barca appears to be the latest to show interest in the Nigerian.
Foxes boss, Claude Puel, is quite aware of potential suitors circling around the youngster.
“I think since the beginning of the season Wilfred is perhaps the most important and most consistent player [for us] because he has played well [and] recovered a lot of balls,” the Frenchman revealed ahead of last weekend’s victory at West Brom.
Ndidi’s skillset is unique compared to Leicester’s other players, according to Puel
“Perhaps his last game [Leicester’s 1-1 home draw with Stoke] – like his team-mates – he was not fantastic, but since the beginning of the season, I think he has improved a lot.
“He has continued to work with a very good spirit in training sessions but he is a valuable player for us because we don’t have a lot of players with those attributes. He can recover a lot of balls he is strong in the duels and he plays it simple with good quality, and gives our players a good start.”
