Comedian and filmmaker Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has shared a hilarious exchange with his daughter who criticised him for “embarrassing the Okpocha family” with his dance moves.

In a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, Basketmouth FaceTimed his daughter, who expressed ‘disappointment’ over his attempts to promote his latest movie, A Ghetto Love Story.

The incident followed a viral clip where the comedian learned dance moves from content creator Brain Jotter as part of the movie’s promotion.

During their conversation, his daughter begged him to stop dancing, saying it was ‘bringing shame’ to the family.

“Hello, Daddy, I know you’re trying to promote your new movie, but can you stop with the dance? You’re embarrassing the entire Okpocha clan. Just stop; your movie will sell,” she said.

Reacting, Basketmouth jokingly blamed netizens for influencing his behaviour which led to his family’s “embarrassment.”

On Twitter, he wrote, “See what you people have done now, making me embarrass my children. I used to think I was the pride of my family.”

The post sparked reactions from celebrities and fans alike.

Actress Nkechi Blessing reacted with, “Toh!” while Uche Ogbodo responded with laughing emojis.

One fan, Sazaberg, wrote, “Na school fees you dey use joke so.”

Another Muditayo added, “Pøor baby, she doesn’t know embarrassment sells in Naija.”

Basketmouth’s A Ghetto Love Story was released to cinemas in November.
