Media personality and Big Brother Naija host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has addressed recent complaints about hosting Big Brother Titans reality show during election period.
The organisers recently shared their plans for a new season of the Big Brother show but with a different twist.
The new season, which is tagged ‘Big Brother Titans’, is to be a combination of both Nigerian and South African housemates.
It was announced during a press conference on December 15 that the new season will begin on January 15. The show will also be going on for about three months as it is slated to end on April 2, 2022.
The announcement was met with criticism from some Nigerian who opined that the show will be a distraction to Nigerian youths and their involvement in the forthcoming 2023 general elections slated between February and March 2023.
Addressing the matter at the conference, Ebuka said the youths can actively participate in the reality show and the general election.
He said: “I believe that we can focus on multiple things at the same time. I believe young Nigerians are complex enough that they can watch something when they want to, and go out to vote when they should. I don’t agree that anything can distract you when it’s time to perform certain duties. People are ready to vote, people have their PVC they can go out and vote when it’s time to vote it shouldn’t stop the world, it doesn’t happen anywhere.”
