One of the high points of Senator Ben Murray Bruce’s 60th birthday celebration held on Friday at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos was when the celebrant requested that estranged partners, D’banj and Don Jazzy, perform together on stage.
“Please do this for me, it is my birthday request,” Bruce begged.
While D’banj who had been performing earlier patiently waited for Don Jazzy to arrive on stage, the ace producer was nowhere to be found.
After minutes of waiting, the Kokomaster broke the awkward silence and said “Sir, I have given serious consideration to this. Before I came on stage, I went to Don Jazzy and asked him to join me on stage. If he (Don Jazzy) gives me a beat today, the song will be ready the next day.”
While fans are still trying to figure out what really happened, the Mavin boss in a series of tweets revealed that he did not come out on stage because he is not an artiste.
He pointed out that he also did not come out to perform with Timaya, Dr Sid or any of his Mavin family, while adding that he left the venue “way before” D’banj took the stage.
