Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Umar Jalingo, has died, barely two days after he was discharged for an undisclosed ailment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
Jalingo died on Thursday and has been buried in Gombe according to Islamic rites.
Head coach of Bendel Insurance, Bernard Ogbe, said Jalingo is survived by his wife and four children.
Jalingo, aged 27, also stood between the posts for Gombe United.
A statement on from Bendel Insurance read: “We are sad to announce the passing away of one of our goalkeepers, Umar Ahmad Jalingo.
“The deceased player’s family source broke the sad news to Insurance Manager Bernard Ogbe this morning (Thursday).”
Bendel Insurance plays in the second football division, the Nigerian National League.
