Turkish giants, Besiktas, are in talks with Chelsea over signing Nigerian international defender, Kenneth Omeruo, on loan according to the Milliyet.
Omeruo, 22, is yet to make an official appearance for the London club since his move from Standard Liege four years ago.
Lack of playing time meant the Nigerian had to settle for multiple loan spells away from Stamford Bridge – with Middlesbrough and ADO Den Haag among his previous destinations.
But it was at Kasimpasa where he caught the eyes of the Turkish champions who are now keen to add the defender to their ranks.
Omeruo settled in at the Istanbul club and became an integral part of the team – featuring 25 times to help the club finish 7th last term.
And with the coming of Italian tactician Antonio Conte to Chelsea, the former Sunshine Stars trainee now faces an even more uncertain future with the Blues.
Reports in the Turkish media on Thursday claim Besiktas are keen on bringing in Omeruo on loan next season and Chelsea are considering letting the 22-year-old stay in Turkey for another season.
Besiktas will be expected to cover Omeruo’s contract fee which is expected to fetch €1.1 million per-season.
Should he decide to move to the Vodafone Arena Istanbul, he is guaranteed the chance to play a key role in their title defence next season as well as Champions League football.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner has been named in Nigeria’s preliminary squad to the 2016 Rio Olympics.
