Minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation Betta Edu, who was suspended on Monday, has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu suspended Edu with immediate effect following outcry over her request to have N585 million public fund paid into a private bank account.
The said amount was meant for payment of grants to vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Cross River and Ogun states.

The EFCC requested to see Edu less than an hour after Tinubu announced her suspension from office through his spokesman Ajuri Ngelale.
An EFCC source told PUNCH that the anti-graft agency’s chairman Ola Olukoyede recommended Edu’s suspension to pave the way for proper investigation.
Edu’s predecessor in the humanitarian ministry Sadiya Farouq is also under investigation over alleged N37.1 billion fraud.
